Now that the holidays are in the rearview mirror why not get into 2018 and start making the plans that will ensure the New Year is a memorable one. There are always a variety of wonderful events and activities for people of all types in the Oyster Park Mount Pleasant Apartments community.
On January 21st join East Cooper Meals on Wheels for its fifth annual Oyster Roast presented by Crews Subaru. “Oysters in the Outback” is a family-friendly event with plenty of oysters, barbecue and live music. In November 2017, Crews Subaru of Charleston presented East Cooper Meals on Wheels with a 2018 Subaru Outback as part of the annual Share the Love event, a national effort that donates to causes in the local community. The vehicle will be on display at Oysters in the Outback.
Guests will enjoy live music from The Sayer McShane Band while shucking oysters provided by The Noisy Oyster. Local chefs and organizations also will compete for top prize in the barbecue competition. Hot dogs, beer, wine and soft drinks are also included in the ticket price.
Tickets are $35 for adults, $20 for everything but oysters and $10 for children. Guests will be required to pay the park admission fee ($2 per person; free for Gold Pass members and children 2 and under).
A great local weekly event happens every Tuesday at the Fill Bar. The Fill Bar restaurant regularly features outstanding local musical talent and a great dining atmosphere. The event is billed “Jazz and Juice with Heather Rice”. Local to Oyster Park Mount Pleasant Apartments the Fill Bar is a great place to enjoy a meal and hear some great music. Guests are invited to Join pianist Heather Rice for a night of smooth jazz and good vibes. All bottles of wine are half price. Reservations can be made online or by giving them a call. Be sure to check out the other specials and featured artists that the venue offers as well. They are always putting together great combinations for your ears and palette.
One thing Oyster Park residents are never far from is great food and food events. In addition to being a great place for foodies Mount Pleasant is also home to a great business community. It only makes sense there would be a great food event designed to bring together and highlight local businesses. On February 7th the Town of Mount Pleasant and the Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce are hosting an oyster roast to celebrate Mount Pleasant’s business community. Town Proud and East Cooper Hospitality Alliance members are invited, as well as other business owners and employees. Before the roast there is a “Tips and Tricks for Coastal Business Recovery” workshop to be held at Alhambra Hall from 4:00 – 5:00pm. The Town of Mount Pleasant’s Emergency Manager, Amanda Knight, will provide information and resources to ensure your business is prepared to recover after a natural disaster. This is a great opportunity for people to not only network and share resources/information but to simply celebrate life and enjoy great food with their Mount Pleasant neighbors and business leaders.
